The Steenstra family is the founder of the "Windmill Cookie". They immigrated from the Netherlands to Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1926. In 1947 they built a bakery to make their family's delicious speculaas cookie recipe. Dutch speculaas cookies became known as "Windmill Cookies" in the US. After a fire burned the bakery in 1988 the family rebuilt in Hudsonville, a town west of Grand Rapids. The Steenstra's St. Claus cookies are still made from the original family recipe, using only natural ingredients and no preservatives.

Love the cookies. Used to get them at the grocery store. Won’t be ordering again though. With shipping the cost was almost $40 for 2 pkgs. Can’t do that again.

Great Cookies, Perfectly Packed :-)

What can I say, these are the real deal. I ordered 32 packages of them, and they were very well packed and not one broke. Very happy. These are the ones from childhood.

I haven’t had these YET!

I have been searching for Windmill Cookies with clean ingredients. I think I might have found them! I’m hoping I can get a list of ingredients before I purchase the cookies. Hopefully the bakery will provide a list of ingredients on their comment thread. I can’t wait to try these Windmill Cookies!
